Kanye West To Launch Jewelry Line

There’s something about mixing fashion, music and art. That’s what Kanye West is doing as he teams up with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for a jewelry line. Who is Murakami and why does Kanye want to collaborate with him?

Here’s the scoop, Murakami is noted as the Andy Warhol of Japan as he mixes pop culture with fine art. Murakami is known as the man who gave Louis Vuitton a face-lift when he teamed up with the artistic director Marc Jacobs in 2003. Knowing how much Kanye loves couture and colors, its no surprise he chose the internationally known artist as his partner in crime.

Although this is a new project, it isn’t the first time Kanye West and Murakami have joined forces? Murakami designed the rapper’s album cover, Graduation and has worked on his music videos.

So what can we expect from this line? Think huge manga-style necklace pendants with rare colored diamonds. Check out our interview with Murakami as he tells us the scoop on the collection.
