Monique Lhuillier’s Collection Oscar Worthy?

Fashion and Style

Designer to the stars Monique Lhuillier unveiled her Fall 2008 collection at New York Fashion week and it looks like she had one thing in mind, the Oscars. The strike may be coming to an end, but the show's status is uncertain. Not having an award show in Hollywood is designer suicide. Especially for designers like Lhullier whose gowns are always a big hit on the red carpet.

Backstage Monique Lhuillier said, "I hear the strike is almost over, and we did really well at the SAGs with America Ferrera and Marcia Cross." If the show does go on, you will definitely see Monique’s over the top gowns that were created to be accompanied by a golden statue.

We have to say our favorite numbers were the Cleopatra inspired gowns with the jeweled neckline. Not to mention the over the top cabochon-jeweled embroidery and clean silhouettes.
